An Inglewood resident and member of the Carpenters Local Union 661 since 1996, Jerome Blackwood has been a dedicated carpenter journeyman for more than 20 years. Born and raised in the Pasadena area, Jerome took an interest in carpentry as a youth and worked toward becoming a journeyman while raising a family. The proud father of five and faithful churchgoer says his faith and career have opened doors to jobs that have allowed him to provide for his family. In his words, "I love doing things and being able to tell my grandkids, "Look, Papa helped build that!"

In February 2020, Jerome attended the Construction Career Opportunities Fair (CCOF). Having worked on dozens of projects across Los Angeles, Jerome had the experience needed to get hired on the spot by Logo Concrete Inc., a full-service self-performing structural concrete and general contractor. Since February, Blackwood has already performed tasks, including concrete formwork on the performance value, building the Lake Park pump station, and installing conduits, including gas and water lines. Jerome's favorite aspect of the job is the inspiring "rain or shine" camaraderie among the workers.
